The National Palace Museum of Taiwan has selected 131 precious collections to showcase in the special exhibition titled “Selected Treasures from the Palace Museum and Their Stories” at the National Museum in the Czech Republic. The exhibition runs from September 12 to December 31. On the opening day, there was a protest outside the venue with someone holding a flag of the Chinese Communist Party, and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Communist Party criticized Taiwan for promoting “cultural independence” and de-Sinicization. Minister of Culture of the Republic of China, Li Yuan, responded by saying that culture is not static and should not be used as a tool.
When it comes to top-tier cultural artifacts from the Palace Museum being exhibited in Europe, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is both envious and jealous, displaying even more hatred. The CCP has been destroying Chinese culture domestically, simplifying Chinese characters, initiating the Cultural Revolution, smashing the “Four Olds,” and targeting Confucius temples. However, now they are using culture for united front work by establishing Confucius Institutes.
So, why is the CCP afraid of Taiwan promoting Chinese culture?
