The Third Plenary Session Removes Qin Gang from the Central Committee’s Membership Duty

On July 18, the four-day Third Plenary Session of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) came to a close. The communiqué of the plenary session announced the dismissal of former Foreign Minister Qin Gang from his position as a member of the Central Committee of the CCP.

The Twentieth Third Plenary Session of the CCP was held from July 15 to 18 in Beijing.

According to the communiqué of the plenary session, there were 199 members of the Central Committee and 165 alternate members in attendance.

The plenary session decided to accept Qin Gang’s resignation application and dismiss him from his position as a member of the Central Committee of the CCP.

The plenary session reviewed and approved the investigation report by the Central Military Commission of the CCP on the serious disciplinary and legal violations of Li Shangfu, Li Yuchao, and Sun Jinming, confirming the disciplinary action of expulsion from the party previously decided by the Central Political Bureau.

On the eve of the Third Plenary Session, the authorities in Beijing had already announced that former Minister of National Defense Wei Fenghe and Li Shangfu were under investigation and expelled from the party for serious disciplinary and legal violations.
