The shooting competition at the 2025 National Games concluded successfully.

The 2025 Jin Shan Bay Area Chinese Sports Shooting Competition was held on June 22 (last Sunday) in Los Gatos, attracting dozens of shooting enthusiasts to participate. The event featured seven major competition categories. After a full day of intense competition, a total of 11 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 10 bronze medals were successfully awarded, marking a successful conclusion.

This year’s competition was organized by senior figure in the shooting world, Hu Zhi Jing, serving as the coordinator, with co-planning assistance from vice-coordinator Chen Zong Yi. Their collaboration ensured the smooth progress of the competition, with rigorous safety measures in place, receiving high praise.

Chairman Chen Li Gong and Executive Advisor Lu Yu Zhen of the Chinese Sports Association also attended the event, presenting awards and encouraging the athletes. The participants included prominent figures from the Silicon Valley high-tech industry, such as Hu Li Min, Lai Ji Yu, and Zhang Mei Qing.

The competition covered categories such as men’s individual pistol, women’s individual pistol, manual rifle, semi-automatic rifle, small caliber rifle, skeet shooting, and pistol team, totaling seven events. The event also featured a “Outstanding Shooter Exhibition Match” with past champions showcasing their exceptional skills, adding excitement to the activities.

Chen Li Gong expressed that participants generally felt that this event was of great significance. Not only did it provide an opportunity to experience the rarely accessible sport of shooting, but it also allowed them to breathe fresh mountain air, enjoy delicious boxed meals, and engage in exchanges with new friends from various backgrounds. For many first-time participants, this was not just a competition but also an enlightening experience of knowledge and skills.

He specifically mentioned that this year, Ma Yao led three young athletes in the competition, all of whom performed outstandingly. Ma Yao and Yang Chen Chen, in particular, stood out, each winning four medals. They expressed their hope to attract more young people to join in the future, ensuring the continuous inheritance and development of the sport of shooting.

At nearly ninety years old, the chief coordinator of the competition, Hu Zhi Jing, stated that the shooting competition was not just a stage to showcase skills but also a platform for community members to interact with each other and enhance mutual understanding. Many athletes observed and learned from each other on the field, sharing equipment and experiences, adding a personal touch beyond sports, making shooting more appealing and educational within the Chinese community.

During the awards ceremony, Lu Yu Zhen commended the winning athletes and expressed hopes for them to continue their enthusiasm for sports, maintain their practice, and gather again next year. She emphasized that shooting is a sport that one can learn for a lifetime. Through each training session and competition, individuals can cultivate perseverance, calmness, and exploration of their own limits.

The competition venue, located in the mountains, had strict regulations with a speed limit of 3 miles per hour within the park area. Participants were required to wear earplugs, protective goggles, and identification. Many experienced athletes brought their own professional ear muffs and goggles, while many first-time participants learned valuable knowledge and skills from the experience.

Men’s Pistol Division: Ma Yao; Women’s Pistol Division: Xue Ting; Skeet Division: Ji Xiao Song, Wen Ren Dan Jie; Manual Rifle Division: Ma Yao; Semi-Automatic Rifle Division: Ji Xiao Song; Team Champions: Harmony Shooting Team.
