The 2025 New York International Auto Show officially opened to the public this Friday, April 18th, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and will run until April 27th. This year marks the 125th anniversary of the auto show, with a special media preview on the 16th. In addition to showcasing the latest automotive technology and innovative designs, this year’s event also highlights significant milestones in the history of American automobile development.
Despite the global automotive market facing challenges such as tariffs and supply chain issues, many automakers have chosen to unveil new vehicles at this year’s New York Auto Show. From electric vehicles to concept cars and special editions, the exhibited models display a diverse range of future automotive trends.
Kia introduced several electric vehicles, including the debut of the 2026 EV4 in the United States. Building on the design philosophy of the EV6 and EV9, this model is expected to be priced between $35,000 and $40,000, featuring an upgraded braking system, i-PEDAL 3.0, with regenerative braking functionality when in reverse.
The luxury brand Genesis presented the X Gran Equator concept car with its attention-grabbing design elements such as an elongated hood and LED light strips running through the sides and rear of the vehicle. The interior boasts diamond-stitched leather seats and storage designed to accommodate eco-friendly water bottles, emphasizing its positioning as a premium off-road SUV. While details about the powertrain system have not been officially disclosed, the absence of a traditional grille at the front suggests a possible all-electric power drive.
Furthermore, Kia launched a new Nightfall special edition for its flagship electric SUV, the EV9. This model features a full blacked-out design, including wheels, accents, and badges, along with a unique black interior, providing consumers with personalized choices.
As the oldest and most-visited auto show in North America, the New York International Auto Show has served as a platform for showcasing automotive industry innovations since its inception in 1900. The inaugural exhibition took place at Madison Square Garden, organized by the New York Automobile Club, focusing on emerging automotive technologies, laying the foundation for auto shows in the United States.
The organizers of the New York International Auto Show stated, “This is the best place in North America to understand automotive trends and new technologies. Every year, it attracts millions of potential buyers, making it the only exhibition where you can fully experience the latest developments in the automotive industry.”
The show runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, extended to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and closes at 7 p.m. on Sundays, including Easter. Adult tickets are $22, while children’s tickets cost $8.
