A new documentary film about the eternal hero is coming out. Starting from March 17, the large-scale historical documentary series “Eternal Heroes Series: Wei Wu Cao Cao” will meet with the audience on NTD Television and Clean World.
Produced jointly by NTD and Epoch Times, “Wei Wu Cao Cao” consists of fourteen episodes, continuing the high-quality and professional standards of the previous “Eternal Heroes Series.” It is based mainly on the official historical text “Records of the Three Kingdoms,” incorporating a wide range of ancient and modern literature, as well as archaeological materials, to explore the life of Cao Cao. The aim is to portray the true image of Cao Cao in history and help viewers better understand the cultural connotations of “righteousness” in the history of the Three Kingdoms.
At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, warlords rose up. Amid the chaos, Cao Cao emerged, raising his righteous army, serving the emperor, supporting the declining Han Dynasty, and stabilizing the turmoil in the land. He recruited talent, advocated for new policies, set the stage for the Three Kingdoms, and established a dominant position. As an official, he did not fear the powerful, speaking honestly and straightforwardly; as a general, he led his troops bravely, securing victories from afar; as a king, he appointed based on abilities and compared himself to the ancient Duke of Zhou.
Cao Cao unified the north, founding the powerful Wei Kingdom, and became the king among warlords. He upheld morality, corrected the Han Dynasty, prolonging its reign for decades and setting an example of loyalty. Cao Cao was also a literary figure, excelling in poetry and prose, and pioneering the illustrious Jian’an literature. His autobiographical prose “Let the County’s Original Ambition Shine” reflects on his aspirations and experiences over thirty years, expressing his loyalty to stabilizing the central plains and supporting the Han Dynasty.
In history, Cao Cao received high praise as a hero of turbulent times, an extraordinary figure beyond his era. However, the later bias of “revering Liu and suppressing Cao” subjected Cao Cao to many misunderstandings. In particular, the popularity of the novel “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” deepened the negative impression of Cao Cao among future generations. So, what kind of life did Cao Cao lead, and how did he gradually achieve success and support the Han Dynasty?
For centuries, discussions about the Three Kingdoms have been endless, and evaluations of its heroes have never ceased. Returning to the classics, tracing the past events, please stay tuned for the Eternal Heroes Series to explore the true heroic face of Wei Wu Cao Cao.
