The beloved Frick Collection in New York has reopened after undergoing five years of renovations, and is currently showcasing a special art exhibition titled “Vermeer’s Love Letters.”
This exhibition focuses on the last painting collected by Henry Clay Frick – Johannes Vermeer’s “Mistress and Maid.”
In each painting, Vermeer depicts a mistress, her maid, and a letter, with clues to the contents of the correspondence. These three paintings are displayed together, offering viewers a glimpse into the scene of letter-writing in the 17th century and Vermeer’s classic masterpieces.
The exhibition is held at the Frick Collection in New York from June 18 to August 31, 2025.
