The fifth Taiwan-US “Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue” was successfully held.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China announced today (24th) that the 5th Taiwan-US “Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue” was held in Taipei and Washington D.C. in a hybrid format combining physical and virtual sessions. Both sides considered the outcomes of this dialogue fruitful and expressed the hope of further deepening economic cooperation and strengthening the Taiwan-US economic partnership through this mechanism.

According to a news release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China, the 5th Taiwan-US Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue (EPPD) took place on the 24th in both Taipei and Washington D.C. through a combination of physical and virtual methods. The representatives from Taiwan and the US were respectively led by Minister of Economic Affairs Guo Zhihui, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Chen Liguo, and Jose W. Fernandez, the Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment from the US Department of State.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China stated, “Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce Robert Garverick led the US delegation for physical participation in Taiwan, while our physical attendees included officials from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transportation, and other departments.”

During the meeting, Taiwan and the US engaged in in-depth discussions on common concerns such as economic threats, transportation, supply chain and investment security, energy transition, as well as cooperation with third countries, exploration of future collaboration areas, and enhanced information sharing. Both sides acknowledged the fruitful outcomes of this dialogue and expressed the desire to continue deepening economic cooperation through this mechanism to strengthen the Taiwan-US economic partnership.

Prior to the meeting, Taiwan and the US renewed the “Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue Memorandum of Cooperation” and agreed to extend it for another 5 years. This memorandum will serve as the foundation for annual high-level dialogues that will alternately take place in Washington D.C. and Taipei in the future, highlighting both sides as priority economic and trade cooperation partners for each other. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will collaborate with relevant departments in the future to sustain the momentum of dialogue and promote bilateral economic cooperation and partnership between Taiwan and the US.
