Recently, in Chongqing Yubei district on Taishan Avenue, a Tesla electric car crashed into a flower bed at high speed, soared into the air, and landed, smashing five surrounding vehicles. Surprisingly, the female driver came out of the accident unscathed, and the vehicles did not catch fire or explode, sparking discussions among netizens.
According to footage from a dashboard camera circulating online, on the afternoon of April 6th, around 3 p.m. local time, a green Tesla was seen speeding out from the right side of a vehicle at an extremely fast pace. It appeared that there was a slight collision between the two vehicles, causing the wheel cover of the Tesla to fly off. Subsequently, the Tesla lost control, crashed into a flower bed in the middle of the road, somersaulted forward in the air, struck a blue truck on the side of the road, rolled across two lanes, and finally landed on an Audi car. The Volkswagen and Porsche next to the Audi were not spared and were all damaged to varying degrees.
On April 7th, nearby shop owners informed the public that the Tesla was speeding, crashed into the flower bed in the middle of the road, hit five parked cars around it, causing severe damage to the vehicles. The Tesla involved in the accident was also nearly dismantled, but the woman in her thirties who was driving it came out unharmed, with no injuries reported among the hit vehicles’ occupants.
Shortly after the incident, local traffic police and medical personnel arrived at the scene of the accident. After a medical examination, it was confirmed that the female car owner suffered no major injuries. However, she may face substantial compensation claims, with some netizens roughly estimating that it could exceed a million yuan!
The car crash incident has sparked heated debates online. Some netizens speculated that a brake failure caused the accident, while others believed, “It’s clearly a case of not releasing the accelerator, continuously pressing on it.” “Most likely a novice driving a friend’s car, using the one-pedal mode.”
An informed netizen confirmed, “This is my cousin’s wife’s car, she got her driver’s license not long ago.” Another user commented, “Complain about how driving schools teach their students. Luckily, it was just cars being hit; if it were pedestrians, it would be a major catastrophe.”
Given a recent incident where a “Xiaomi” car crashed into a cement pillar on the highway and caught fire, resulting in the death of three occupants inside, many netizens expressed relief, saying, “It’s fortunate it wasn’t a Xiaomi.” “Despite the severe impact, it didn’t catch fire; it even smashed the truck’s chassis.” “The driver could walk out on his own; impressive Tesla.” “Will many people start buying Tesla cars now? Are their cars affordable?” “They’re doing good advertising.”
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and proper driving education to prevent such accidents in the future.
