The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China announced today that the military personnel have made significant progress in the “Han Kuang Exercise 41,” a long-term and high-intensity drill, and have been praised by various sectors.
The Republic of China’s military conducted its longest “Han Kuang Exercise 41” live-fire drill, which began on July 9. Minister of National Defense, Gu Li-shiung, announced the end of the Han Kuang Exercise on the evening of July 18, commending the dedication of the military personnel who were fully engaged for 10 days and 9 nights. President Lai Ching-te posted on Facebook, noting that this exercise not only doubled in duration to 10 days and 9 nights but also followed a principle of no scripts and practical combat scenarios to verify the military’s defense operations plan and enhance public confidence in the military’s ability to safeguard the nation.
The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China issued a press release today, indicating that this year’s “Han Kuang Exercise 41” was designed from a practical combat perspective, with exercise scenarios and auxiliary conditions planned accordingly. Following the requirements of “actual troops, actual locations, real-time, and real equipment,” the drills closely simulated real combat situations. The military personnel have shown significant progress during the long-term and high-intensity exercises, receiving recognition from various sectors. Through post-training reviews, continuous assessment, and enhancement of readiness, the defense capabilities will be improved.
In addition, regarding the “Urban Resilience Exercise,” the Ministry of National Defense stated that this exercise for the first time integrates exercises in “civil defense mobilization, air defense, protection of critical infrastructure,” aiming to strengthen local government’s response capabilities to emergencies and promote the idea of the public being prepared and safer. Building on the experience gained, efforts will continue to enhance military-civilian coordination mechanisms, improve overall operational efficiency, and enhance the national defense resilience of the entire society.
The Ministry of National Defense mentioned, “It is encouraging to see international scholars showing interest in our country’s defense capabilities and providing suggestions.” The Ministry will consider these inputs for ongoing military preparedness and improvement. However, the Ministry also urged domestic media not to interpret the exercises as mere “performances” negatively, as it distorts the original intent and is unfair to the dedicated efforts of the military personnel in their rigorous combat training.
