Taiwan People’s Party Chairman Huang Guochang stated that internal personnel of the National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (Academia Sinica) are selling confidential bidding documents to vendors. Academia Sinica announced today (2nd) that the case was actively discovered by internal security mechanisms due to abnormal data copying, and has been referred to the prosecutorial authorities for investigation.
In a Facebook post, Huang Guochang mentioned that internal personnel of Academia Sinica are selling confidential bidding documents to vendors – doesn’t the Ministry of National Defense know about this? Or are they turning a blind eye, as he stated.
Academia Sinica in Taiwan is an administrative legal person supervised by the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China. Academia Sinica released a press release today, stating that the internal security system of the institute discovered abnormal data copying recently. After preliminary investigation, it was reported to the prosecutorial authorities on August 14 for proactive investigation by the prosecutors.
Academia Sinica explained that the leaked information is considered trade secrets of the institute’s bidding documents. During the public bidding period, interested bidders can apply to view the documents. It is suspected that internal employees provided specific individuals with the opportunity to profit, and Academia Sinica will deal with this according to the law.
Academia Sinica emphasized that the entire case was actively discovered by internal security mechanisms and has now entered judicial investigation. Statements like “the Ministry of National Defense doesn’t know, turning a blind eye” are not accurate. Academia Sinica will vigorously defend its rights and seek the strictest punishment for those involved in the case as a deterrent.
