Chinese actor Yu Menglong passed away after falling from a building on the 11th of this month. Although the police quickly ruled it as an “accidental fall” and ruled out foul play, there is widespread suspicion that it was a homicide. Recently, Yu Menglong’s mentor and veteran talent agent from Taiwan, Sun Derong, revealed that Yu Menglong came to him in a dream, narrating the process of his murder.
According to Sun Derong, since September 28, he has been posting on his Facebook page “Sun’s Updates,” stating that on the 27th, Yu Menglong visited him in a dream for five hours, detailing everything meticulously.
“In my dream, Yu Menglong appeared pure and kind as usual, but his grieving face told me that he felt wronged, and his only worry was whether his mother could bear it,” Sun Derong said. During the five-hour dream, Yu Menglong told him every detail of what happened leading up to his death.
“He died in a tragic and helpless manner. I need to think about how to proceed best.” Sun Derong expressed that he would find the most appropriate time to address the key point, ensuring that Yu Menglong does not mysteriously lose his life in the prime of it.
Sun Derong blamed himself, saying, “If I hadn’t trained him for a year and a half at the time, if I hadn’t let him enter the entertainment industry, would he be happier now?”
He also disclosed that he would gather several trainees who were training in Beijing at the same time as Yu Menglong to chant scriptures for him and release a “no suicide statement,” doing something for Yu Menglong.
However, due to concerns from friends and fans about his safety if he were to go to Beijing, he ultimately decided to hold a “Yu Menglong Memorial Service and Truth-Seeking Conference” at the Dizang Wang Bodhisattva Temple in Xinzhuang, Taiwan on the afternoon of the 29th, personally reporting to the deities and explaining the follow-up plans to the public.
He mentioned that he would provide detailed reasons to Dizang Wang Bodhisattva and hopes to appeal for Yu Menglong’s grievance through the divine power, allowing justice to prevail.
At the same time, as of 1:00 p.m. Beijing time on September 30, a global petition initiated by netizens on September 20 through the global non-governmental organization “AVAAZ” called “Seeking Justice for Yu Menglong” has garnered support from 150,000 people.
The petition lists three major demands: 1. Conduct a comprehensive, independent, and transparent investigation to bring justice to Yu Menglong; 2. If there are criminal facts, immediately prosecute the suspects with the most severe charges; 3. Relevant authorities must publicly apologize and provide legal and psychological support to the family.
To enhance the substantial effectiveness and legal advocacy significance of the petition, the initiators revised the petition on September 30.
“Justice does not come automatically; it requires our collective effort. We cannot allow this case to be covered up or ignored,” the initiators stated. “We urge Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International to focus on issues of artists’ safety, personal freedom, and prevention of sexual abuse, and to pressure relevant authorities to improve the current situation.”
Furthermore, they called on every individual who cares about human rights to join the petition to ensure the truth of the event is revealed.
