On September 17, Hair stylist and singer Universe, who had collaborated with Ah Fu (Lin Shengfu) on the Taiwanese talent show “Big Hip-hop Era,” passed away suddenly in the early hours of the morning, shocking the music industry. Many fans and friends found it hard to believe. Ah Fu mourned in a post: “Universe has departed much faster than we could have imagined.”
Aside from his appearance on “Big Hip-hop Era,” Universe had released a single called “Chase” three years ago, which received great reviews. Rapper Ah Fu, who rose to fame from “Big Hip-hop Era,” expressed his disbelief upon hearing the news of Universe’s sudden passing. Just last week, Ah Fu had gone to Universe for a haircut and everything seemed normal. Little did he know that just a few days later, they would be worlds apart.
On the evening of the 17th, Ah Fu wrote on Instagram: “Universe has departed much faster than we could have imagined. I know it was also a choice, although deep down, I stubbornly wished we could continue challenging the world together, continue playing, experiencing joy and sorrow. I am grateful to have heard your songs, to have connected with you. From the very beginning, I felt a resonance with your music. Like many others, I have felt that I haven’t met certain standards, haven’t fulfilled the responsibilities I should, have put on a tough front, acted cool. Knowing you has been truly heartwarming for me.”
Ah Fu thanked Universe for never disappointing anyone’s expectations and sent out a message to his friend: “It’s very windy today, you look handsome enough, please rest well. We’ll play together again next time, although you may have to wait a while, make sure to have a blast. No one is allowed to escape, no matter what they’re chasing after, I’ll definitely catch up with the drinks.” Finally, he confessed candidly: “You are my benefactor, my good friend.” His words were filled with sorrow and nostalgia.
Recently, Ah Fu, who participated in the reality show “Nine Tough Guys Together,” revealed that Universe was the one who always cut his hair. They had even filmed together, as Ah Fu shared: “Next week, the content of the family meeting is going to be broadcast, where we took Universe to the military camp and filmed the haircut scene within the reality show.”
Ah Fu and Universe became connected through a project, with Ah Fu serving as a flight instructor at the time. They later became great creative partners for each other. According to reports from “ETtoday,” Ah Fu’s manager also confirmed Universe’s passing, but the cause of death remains unclear.
