Taiwanese Artistic Realm and Future Technology Celebrate Double Tenth National Day – Taiwan Special Effects Troupe’s Performance in New South Wales on August 31

The Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission of the Republic of China sends the “National Day Cultural Visiting Group” abroad every year to perform, showcasing unique Taiwanese cultural performances to express the government’s care for overseas compatriots and promote cultural exchange between the overseas community and locals. In the 2025 tour to 13 cities in the United States and Canada, they have invited the “National Taiwan Drama Academy Taiwanese Acrobatics Troupe,” who will arrive in Rahway, New Jersey on August 31 for their program “Future Artistry x Formosa.”

The hosting organization in New Jersey, the North New Jersey Chinese American Association, recently introduced the details of the performance. President Chen Lihui stated that the association has extensive experience in organizing performances, having presented shows such as “Minghuayuan,” “Jiutian Temple Fair Theater,” and “Contemporary Ensemble” from 2006 to 2023, attracting thousands of Chinese and foreign audiences at each event. This year, the choice of a century-old classic theater meets the technical requirements of the visiting group, ensuring a spectacular performance. They expressed gratitude to the joint efforts of the New York Taiwanese Alumni Association Federation, the New Jersey Chinese Language School Association, and 13 other overseas Chinese organizations. To accommodate audiences from Flushing, two buses have been reserved to shuttle ticket holders to and from the venue.

The “Taiwanese Acrobatics Troupe” has extensive experience in touring and performing worldwide. With members skilled in handstands, flips, foot techniques (umbrellas), juggling, diabolos, and various forms of acrobatics, their performances have received acclaim. This year, led by senior disciple Wang Xizhong under the tutelage of Li Tanghua, the group of 15 performers will showcase programs like “Graceful In Motion, Chasing the Light, Tranquil Woods, Riding the Wind and Waves, Praising Joy, Starry Sky Well-Wishes, Swift Navigation, Chanting Praise, Taiwan’s Courage,” and will also feature a magical basketball and hand skills segment.

Director Wang Yiru of the New York Overseas Chinese Cultural and Educational Service Center remarked that each member of the “Taiwanese Acrobatics Troupe” possesses extraordinary skills, and through their performances, they believe the audience will experience a refreshing and captivating spectacle. She encouraged Taiwanese expatriates to invite colleagues and friends to watch and support Taiwan’s professional performers with applause.

The National Day Cultural Visiting Group will depart from Taiwan on August 27 and will tour 13 cities including Rhode Island, New Jersey, Maryland, Detroit, Chicago, Toronto, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Minnesota.
