Taiwan: Due to Typhoon and Tariffs, Lai Ching-te has no immediate plans for overseas visits.

The spokesperson of the Office of the President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Guo Yahui, stated that considering the recent recovery efforts in the aftermath of the southern typhoon disaster and issues such as equal tariffs with the United States, President Lai has no plans for overseas visits in the near future.

It was reported on the 15th by a media outlet, citing insider sources, that President Lai Ching-te of the Republic of China was expected to visit friendly countries in Central and South America in August, with a transit stop in the United States. President Lai was scheduled to visit Paraguay in South America, Guatemala in Central America, and Belize – three of Taiwan’s diplomatic allies.

The spokesperson of the Office of the President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Guo Yahui, stated on the 15th that there was no official confirmation regarding the above information. Any definite arrangements will be timely announced to the public.

On the 28th, Guo Yahui reiterated that in response to media inquiries about the President’s upcoming travel plans or any rescheduling of visits, as always, once the travel itinerary is finalized, it will be promptly disclosed to the public.

Guo Yahui further explained that due to factors such as the recent southern typhoon recovery efforts, issues related to equal tariffs with the United States, and regional developments, President Lai currently has no plans for overseas visits in the near future.
