Taiwan Coast Guard boosts its strength with the deployment of the 7th 100-ton patrol vessel for law enforcement.

Taiwan Coast Guard enhances its fleet with a new addition! The Seventh 100-ton-class patrol vessel, PP-10093, under the “Coast Guard Vessel Development Plan” of the Republic of China Coast Guard Administration, held a launch and commissioning ceremony on the afternoon of April 30th at the Tainan Coast Guard base led by the Tainan Coast Guard team leader.

The ROC Coast Guard Administration invited allies from various units and experts, including the Tainan Prosecutor Chung Ho-hsien, Senior Manager Lin Chien-hung from the Anping Harbor Operations Department of the Kaohsiung Port Authority, President Wang Wen-cheng of the Coast Guard Friends Association of Southern Taiwan, service representatives of legislator Lin Chun-hsien, and representatives from fishery associations to join the grand event.

Deputy Director Huang Jui-yuan of the Southern Sub-Bureau of the Coast Guard Administration, Commander Dong Jun-ting of the Sixth Patrol District, Team Leader Chou Cheng-chang of the Tainan Enforcement Team, Team Leader Shen Cheng-hsing of the Beimen Enforcement Team, and Commander Ma Li-yun of the 11th Coast Guard Squadron also attended the event. The ceremony commenced with a water cannon salute by a 35-ton patrol vessel, symbolizing the official entry of PP-10093 into the maritime law enforcement lineup, strengthening the enforcement capabilities in the waters off Tainan.

The newly-built 100-ton-class patrol vessel was constructed by the CSBC Corporation, Taiwan, equipped with a German MAN high-speed main engine and propeller propulsion system, capable of reaching a maximum speed of 25 knots (approximately 46 kilometers per hour) and a range of 1,200 nautical miles. With a total tonnage of 266 tons, it includes a davit-launched small craft for inspection and search and rescue tasks in shallow waters when necessary.

The PP-10093 patrol vessel of the 100-ton class is equipped with a high-pressure water cannon with firefighting capabilities, capable of spraying approximately 300,000 liters of water per hour with a maximum range of 95 meters. Besides firefighting tasks, it can also assert strong law enforcement measures when cracking down on illegal fishing vessels crossing into restricted areas. Additionally, the vessel features a hard chine hull design which significantly enhances its wave resistance, thereby effectively boosting search and rescue capabilities in the waters off Tainan and Kaohsiung.

The Tainan Coast Guard team emphasized that the newly-built 100-ton-class patrol vessel, with its high wave resistance and endurance, is advantageous for carrying out diverse coast guard missions. In case of witnessing unlawful activities or requiring coast guard assistance, the public is urged to promptly dial the Coast Guard’s emergency hotline 118 for assistance. The Coast Guard Administration will promptly respond to safeguard the safety of the public.
