Taichung Veterans General Hospital Opens Telehealth Service Center in New York to Share Medical and Health Knowledge with Overseas Chinese.

Taiwan’s largest medical center in central Taiwan, Taichung Veterans General Hospital, has opened an “International Telemedicine Service Center” in New York, with an unveiling ceremony held on August 22. Deputy Director Zhou Yuanhua led a medical team to present a “Medical Seminar” at the Taiwan Hall on August 23, introducing the services of the International Telemedicine Center and sharing healthcare knowledge with the local community.

Over three hundred overseas compatriots attended the seminar, filling every seat in the venue. Taichung Veterans General Hospital is the first hospital in Taiwan to enter the global top 100 smart hospitals, ranking as the number one smart hospital in Taiwan and one of the top four medical centers in the country, with the largest telemedicine center in Asia.

Deputy Director Zhou Yuanhua introduced that the hospital established the International Medical Center last year as an essential platform for government medical diplomacy and healthcare services for overseas compatriots and set up a system to oversee the health of overseas compatriots.

Deputy Director Zhou mentioned that the hospital has opened a fast lane for overseas compatriots, providing a quick process for appointments, registrations, and vaccine administration for returnees to Taiwan, reducing waiting times. They have assigned project managers to provide personalized assistance and VIP services for overseas compatriots, systematically managing health check results to avoid duplicate tests and resource wastage. Additionally, as a public hospital with non-profit goals, the pricing is fair without any overcharging.

“After decades of hard work overseas, the most important thing now is to protect one’s health,” Deputy Director Zhou said, emphasizing the hospital’s commitment to leverage Taiwan’s high-quality medical resources in establishing a global “Taiwan Business and Overseas Chinese Healthcare Service Network” through “health education, telemedicine, fast lanes, and international cooperation” to help overseas compatriots efficiently and confidently manage their health.

During the event, Director Chen Yiru from the Dermatology Department, Director Pan Jianzhou from the Orthopedics Department, and Director Xu Guanyun from the International Medical Center conducted medical lectures, sharing their expertise in their respective fields.
