Two Swedish men spent approximately 13.5 hours playing table tennis continuously, setting a new Guinness World Record.
According to a report on the Guinness World Records website on January 16, Swedish men Emil Ohlsson and Fredrik Nilsson, both table tennis enthusiasts, dubbed themselves the “Spin Duo.”
After four months of intense physical and mental training, these two men challenged the Guinness World Record on July 20, 2024, at a table tennis bar in Malmö, Sweden’s third-largest city. A large screen on the wall of the bar displayed the time they spent playing continuously.
Under the supervision of the establishment’s staff, they served and received the ball non-stop for a total of 13 hours, 37 minutes, and 6 seconds, breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous table tennis match.
Both men wore matching sports shoes and athletic leisure wear throughout the day, chatting and hitting the ball back and forth at the net with great enthusiasm.
According to official rules, the match had to proceed continuously, with players not allowed to take breaks between hitting the ball back. During the long 13.5 hours, they kept themselves focused and energetic through chatting, jumping, stretching, and even drinking beverages while playing.
When they finally broke the previous world record held by British men Daniel Ives and Lloyd Gregory, they joyfully embraced each other and received flowers and applause from family and friends.
