The case of Wang Xing, an important suspect in a major crime, known as “Yan Shiliu”, was recently captured and extradited back to China. The true identity of Yan Shiliu has also been exposed, revealing that at least 9 people were deceived by him into a fraud scheme in Myanmar, and Wang Xing was one of them.
According to a report from China Central Television (CCTV) on January 26th, Yan Shiliu was extradited back to China on the evening of the 25th. Video footage showed Yan Shiliu being escorted back to the country by two individuals in black attire. He was wearing a white top, a duckbill cap on his head, a mask covering his face, handcuffs on his hands, and holding a convenience bag.
Several industry collaborators and insiders revealed to the Beijing News that Yan Shiliu was born in a rural family in Donghai County, Jiangsu Province. His real name is Yan Wenlei, also known as Yan Junfeng, Yan Chao, and his nickname is “Fatty”. Over the past decade, Yan Shiliu had worked as an extra in various film crews in Hengdian, handled production affairs, operated cameras, and eventually became a stunt coordinator with some martial arts skills. In 2018, he even directed a film called “Rebirth of the Last Dawn” under the name Yan Junfeng.
There has been a rumor circulating in the mainland entertainment industry that dozens of actors were invited to audition in Thailand and then went missing, with 9 of them being invited by “Yan Shiliu”. Besides actors like Wang Xing, Yan Shiliu recruited behind-the-scenes personnel including photographers, lighting technicians, art designers, and production assistants to Thailand, such as male model Yang Zeqi, lighting technician Sun, and others.
Prior reports stated that before being deceived to go to Thailand, Wang Xing saw a recruitment message in a professional actor group and added a coordinator named “Yan Shiliu” claiming to be from the Thai company GMM Grammy. Public records show that GMM Grammy, with its Chinese name Asia Galai Mei Communication Co., Ltd., was established in 1983 by the Thai-Chinese founder Huang Minhui.
A Chinese businessman who escaped from the fraud camp in Myanmar once revealed online that the masterminds behind the scenes of the fraud camps are all Chinese, and those caught are always just small leaders. He mentioned, “The real masterminds behind the scenes, no one ever knows who they are. It’s really a mystery, so the ones caught are always just small fish… They have powerful connections.”
According to New Tang Dynasty TV, an informant familiar with the situation in Myanmar named Li Yong (alias) revealed that there were thirty to forty fraud camps in the Mawaddy where Wang Xing was deceived, with KK Park being the largest. They are all run by Chinese individuals, with the backing of the Chinese Communist government.
A report published in April 2019 in the Global Times, a Chinese state media, titled “Chinese Entrepreneurs’ Stories of the Belt and Road: Building Special Economic Zones in Myanmar’s Desolate Areas,” mentioned the private entrepreneur Duan Zhongli, the founder of KK Park, who has a background in China’s security. Insiders mentioned that Duan Zhongli is the spokesman for the Chinese Communist Party in Myanmar, and he is backed by the Ministry of State Security.
Li Yong also noted, “Until now, I still don’t know who the boss of KK is. I heard there are five or six bosses, and Duan Zhongli is their ultimate backstage man, taking protection fees. He’s not just in charge of KK, but many others. If you want to open a park or do anything in Myanmar, you must find ‘Lord Duan’. The real decision-makers above him are the red second-generation and third-generation in the state security. They are the ones truly in charge in the security apparatus.”
