Recently, in Wenjiang District, Chengdu, Sichuan, water continuously spouted from the base of a load-bearing column in the underground parking lot of a residential area, causing panic among the homeowners.
According to reports from Da Feng News, a netizen posted a video on August 29, showing water continuously gushing out from the base of a thick concrete load-bearing column in the “Intercontinental Health Industry City” residential area in Wenjiang, Sichuan. It was like a small fountain, with water spurting out from the gap between the column and the ground. The water didn’t stop for several days, and homeowners were concerned about potential safety defects in the building’s waterproofing or structural layers.
The spouting water column was estimated to be about thirty to forty centimeters high, and the surrounding ground had already turned into a “pool.”
Property management personnel stated that the water gushing phenomenon had been ongoing for three to four days. Preliminary assessment suggested that it was caused by groundwater surging back. Currently, efforts have begun to pump out the accumulated water in the basement. The developer, the Housing and Construction Bureau of Wenjiang District, and the project design institute have all arrived on the scene to conduct inspections and are working on a solution.
