Stray Dog Mother Carrying Dying Puppies Seeks Help at Veterinary Clinic

In Istanbul Province, Turkey, a heartwarming incident took place on January 13th in the Beylikduzu area. A stray mother dog, seemingly aware of the help veterinarians can provide, brought an unconscious newborn puppy to a veterinary clinic for assistance, surprising the veterinarians inside. Fortunately, the puppy was successfully saved by the veterinarians.

The surveillance camera footage captured a tan-colored female dog carrying a newly born puppy in her mouth to the entrance of a veterinary clinic. Promptly reacting to the situation, the veterinarians quickly took the puppy inside for treatment.

This puppy was in critical condition with a dangerously low heart rate, prompting immediate lifesaving measures by the veterinarians, while the dog mother anxiously watched nearby.

Veterinarian Baturalp Oghan revealed that the mother dog had previously given birth to several puppies nearby, but unfortunately, most of them had passed away.

Earlier, a kind-hearted individual had brought one surviving puppy to the clinic, unaware that there was another one still alive. The mother dog later found the other surviving puppy and brought it to the clinic seeking help.

Due to the mother dog’s insufficient milk supply, the clinic provided extra nourishment for both her and the puppies. Under the care of the clinic, their health conditions have significantly improved.

Oghan expressed that the clinic staff were moved by the mother dog’s determination to save her puppies, hoping to find them a loving home once fully recovered.

Reflecting on the incident, Oghan shared with The Dodo website, “We were very surprised when we saw the mother dog. Initially, we thought the puppy was dead, but during our examination, we discovered its heartbeat was very slow.”

Oghan believed that the mother dog had given birth to puppies a few weeks ago, but someone had separated them by taking her for spaying, causing the puppies to suffer from low body temperatures and even death without their mother’s warmth.

The mother dog later found one surviving puppy, followed in the footsteps of a compassionate person to seek help from the veterinarians at the clinic. Currently, the mother dog has reunited with both surviving puppies.

Oghan reported that the mother dog and the puppies are in good health. Although the mother dog is a bit weak, they have been feeding her a lot. They are now staying together at the clinic.

Incidents where stray dogs autonomously seek veterinary care, displaying apparent intelligence, have been seen before, such as in Brazil.

Previously reported by The Epoch Times, on March 6, 2021, a limping stray dog arrived at a veterinary clinic in Juazeiro do Norte, a city in eastern Brazil. The clinic’s door was open, and the dog paused at the entrance for a moment before limping inside and waiting by the wall. It seemed unaware of the need to register before receiving treatment.

A female veterinarian named Dayse Silva soon noticed the dog and went to inspect him. Upon examining the dog’s wounds, she had her colleague take him to the treatment room for a detailed examination.

The examination revealed that the dog not only had injuries but also suffered from a transmissible venereal tumor commonly found in stray animals. The clinic provided treatment, including chemotherapy, for the dog’s recovery.
