“The Ballad of a Small Player” is adapted from a best-selling novel of the same name, directed by Edward Berge, who recently won an Oscar for Best International Film for “All Quiet on the Western Front”. The story follows a gambler facing debt troubles who decides to settle in Macau after a tumultuous journey and encounters someone who may save him. The film began filming this summer, with locations in Asia.

At 42 years old, Charmaine Fong moved with her family from China to Atlanta, USA as a child. In 2005, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Emory University, where she won the titles of Miss Asian America and Miss Chinese New York during her college years. After graduating, she represented New York to participate in the International Miss Chinese pageant in Hong Kong and got the runner-up, leading her to sign with TVB, a Hong Kong television broadcasting company.
After leaving TVB in 2013 following the end of her contract, Charmaine Fong returned to the United States the following year to pursue a Master’s degree in Drama Acting, graduating with straight A’s. After years of auditioning, she finally gained popularity. Now based in the United States, she has appeared in Hollywood blockbusters like “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire”. She is making her debut as the leading actress for the Netflix film “The Ballad of a Small Player”, co-starring with Golden Globe winner Colin Farrell and Academy Award-winning actress Tilda Swinton.
