Spanish woman María José Fuster has spent half a century collecting over 15,000 egg cups, breaking the Guinness World Record.
According to the report by Guinness World Records website on July 7, Fuster, a genealogist and historian, has a passion for collecting all kinds of egg cups. Over the past 50 years, she has amassed 15,485 egg cups, officially recognized as the largest egg cup collection in the world.
Egg cups are tools used to hold boiled eggs for convenient consumption, especially for soft-boiled or runny eggs as their yolks are not fully cooked and can be messy to eat.
Fuster’s collection of egg cups features various designs, including unique shapes such as horses, along with novelty egg cups portraying characters like Garfield, Superman, and Betty Boop.
In July 2023, Fuster’s hometown Campo opened a new community center where she displayed her lifelong collection of egg cups. With the help of two witnesses, it took them three hours to count the total number of egg cups.
Fuster has created two blogs dedicated to her hobby, one documenting each item in her collection, and another listing people who have donated egg cups to her.
Her most precious egg cups, around 1,143 of them, are currently on display at a local museum.
