The Nanwan Overseas Chinese Education Center held a flag conferment ceremony for various groups from the Silicon Valley Bay Area who will participate in the 113th National Day celebrations of the Republic of China on September 22 (last Sunday).
Six groups took part in the flag conferment, including the American California Line Dance Association, the International Outstanding People Association World Headquarters, the Silicon Valley Bay Area Republic of China National Day Committee, the Silicon Valley Bay Area Chinese Community Assembly, the Confucius Ceremony Committee, and the Northern California Taiwan Chamber of Commerce.
Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco Director Lai Mingchi expressed gratitude on behalf of the Taiwan representative office to all the groups returning to Taiwan for the National Day celebrations. This action demonstrates the support of the overseas Chinese community in the Bay Area for the Republic of China and their love for Taiwan. The Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission has attached great importance to this arrangement to ensure that everyone in Taiwan has a fulfilling experience. He also expressed longing for Taiwanese cuisine.
Zhuang Yashu, Director of the Silicon Valley Bay Area Overseas Chinese Education Center, introduced the exciting activities for Taiwan’s National Day this year, including the National Day concert at Taipei Dome on October 5, the National Day celebration at the front square of the Presidential Office on October 10, and the National Day fireworks in the Yunlin County Huwei High-Speed Rail Special Zone on October 10.
The Overseas Community Affairs Council will set up registration teams on the 1st floor of the South Building of the Central Joint Office Building from October 4 to 9, from 9 am to 6 pm daily, to issue Overseas Compatriot Identity Cards for compatriots returning to Taiwan.
In order to encourage overseas compatriots to return to Taiwan to participate in the Double Tenth National Day activities and promote Taiwan’s tourism industry, those who enter Taiwan on or after August 1 and participate in a 3-day, 2-night tour between September 20 and October 31, attending any of the National Day celebrations on October 8, 9, or 10, will receive a subsidy of NT$3,000; those with travel itineraries to Hualien County or Taitung County will receive a subsidy of NT$3,600. Representative Du Zhaoming of the returning delegation for the National Day celebrations expressed that the support from the Bay Area’s overseas Chinese community for the Republic of China remains steadfast regardless of political parties or positions. Despite potential differences in views or thoughts, the love for the Republic of China is undeniable and universally recognized. He believes that the National Day celebration delegation from the Bay Area has been one of the most outstanding teams globally for over 20 years and looks forward to maintaining this glory in the next 20, 30, or even longer years to come. Support for the Republic of China from the Bay Area’s overseas Chinese community will always remain constant and rank first in the world.
National Day Committee Chairman Yeh Yunhe stated that they plan to visit Taiwan in October, not only to participate in the celebrations but also to engage in in-depth exchanges with Taiwanese government departments, enhance cooperation between the two regions, and promote overseas public diplomacy.
