Somerville New England Hong Kong Festival to be Held on 5/18

The inaugural “New England Hong Kong Festival” will be held on May 18th at Union Square in Somerville, bringing a variety of food, culture, and game booths.

According to the organizers, from 4 pm to 8 pm on that day, Union Square will host 20 booths featuring Hong Kong and Asian groceries, food, cultural activities, and games. Free and interesting activities include Hong Kong card games, dragon boat displays, chess, badminton, handicrafts, and more.

The Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center (BCNC) and the Somerville Immigration Affairs Office will also be on-site to provide counseling services to attendees.

Cultural performances at the event will include the Hu Qing White Crane Lion Dance, as well as Cantonese opera and music performances by artists such as Ho Fung Yee, Juksing, Barry & Friends, and Nicole.

The New England Hong Kong Festival is organized by a volunteer team, with co-organizers including the Somerville City Government, the Somerville Arts Council, and the Somerville Immigration Affairs Office. Major sponsors include HDM Renovations construction company, DrinKo beverage company, and Homeland Residential and Commercial Real Estate Company.
