New York City mayoral candidate for the Republican Party and founder of the Guardian Angels organization Curtis Sliwa held a fundraising event in Flushing on the evening of July 11th, urging the Chinese community to support his mayoral campaign. He emphasized that only by steadfastly defending American freedom and democratic values can we resist the infiltration of communism and socialism.
Sliwa, dressed in a suit and tie and wearing his iconic red beret, attended the event. He stated that Flushing is home to many individuals who have fled Communist rule in mainland China and Korean residents who oppose the totalitarian regime in North Korea. These communities understand the threat authoritarian regimes pose to personal freedom and democratic society. He bluntly stated that communism is attempting to infiltrate the United States, eroding our values of freedom, and that “we must face it and fight back.”
He strongly condemned the Chinese Communist Party for manipulating overseas public opinion, attempting to influence the American electoral system, and criticized individuals who accept political benefits from the CCP, stating that “these people knowingly harm the country and its people yet willingly serve the communist regime, they must be expelled from politics.”
Regarding sanctuary city policies, Sliwa expressed support for determining the policy’s fate through a referendum. He believes that the majority of New Yorkers do not support the current policy and emphasized the importance of prioritizing the care of local residents, including the homeless and those with mental health issues.
New York State Senator John Chan also attended the event, explicitly endorsing Sliwa. He mentioned witnessing two residents of the community being killed by a BMW running a red light on Friday, and within three days, three people had died in traffic accidents in the community, highlighting the deteriorating public safety and the fear and insecurity in which citizens live. He criticized the city government for “covering up the facts and whitewashing the truth” and pointed out that as a police officer with 27 years of experience, he is well aware that the current situation does not align with official statements.
He stressed that supporting Sliwa is not based on party affiliation but on common sense and responsibility, stating that “standing up today is for family, friends, neighbors, and for all who still believe in the American dream.”
City Council District 30 candidate Victor Wong also expressed his personal support for Sliwa. He stated that Sliwa has a deep understanding of New York City’s history and context, possesses excellent leadership and decisiveness, and is the appropriate candidate to lead the city out of its current challenges. He urged citizens to vote enthusiastically on November 4th, rejecting the political ideologies of socialism and communism, stating that “New York is not their sanctuary.”
Sliwa has officially received the endorsement of the New York City Council Republican delegation. The delegation stated in a release, “Sliwa has shown honesty and sincerity, including admitting his own flaws. He does not pretend to be perfect, but he is a true fighter, a New Yorker who loves his city. His goal is to bring prosperity back to New York. Now is the time to give him a chance to fight for us once again!”
