Singer Gloria Tang Reported Again for Tax Issues, Parent Company Left with Only One

Chinese actress Song Zuer has once again been accused of tax issues on the mainland. A netizen with the Weibo ID “金鈞L” reported Song Zuer for tax problems in December 2023 and claimed on September 15 this year that additional evidence regarding Song Zuer’s tax issues had been submitted to the Beijing tax authorities.

On August 31, 2023, Song Zuer was accused of tax evasion amounting to 45 million RMB by a person claiming to be a former employee of her company, causing a stir online. A screenshot circulated online showed Song Zuer being reported for tax evasion on the tax authorities’ website.

Song Zuer’s former agency, “Xi Tian Media,” released a statement on the same day stating that her management contract had expired on November 28, 2022. Since October 2020, Song Zuer and her family have been managing their financial matters independently and have not been involved in financial accounting and tax reporting. The statement also mentioned that upon investigation, no evidence was found of internal employees reporting Song Zuer for suspected tax evasion.

According to Tianyancha, among the four companies affiliated with Song Zuer, only Shanghai Hongquan Film and Television Culture Company remains active. The other companies where she held the position of legal representative, including Xinyi Juanjuan Film and Television Culture Studio, Changxing Xunmei Film and Television Culture Studio, and Qingdao Qiding Film and Television Culture Studio, have been deregistered.

On August 27, 2024, Song Zuer’s studio stated that after a tax inspection, she was found not guilty of tax evasion and had not been subjected to any administrative penalties for tax matters. The studio also argued that online discussions regarding Song Zuer’s tax issues were intentionally distorted and maliciously interpreted, potentially violating her reputation.

After a year and a half of silence, Song Zuer made a comeback in April this year with dramas like “Wuyoudu,” “Zheyao,” and “Cuihuo Niandai,” with upcoming projects including “Liaozhai” and “Biaomei Wanfu.”

At 25 years old, Song Zuer began her career as a child star at the age of six and gained recognition for dramas such as “Precious Little Lantern” and “Qiao Family’s Children.” As of now, Song Zuer, also known as Sun Fanqing, only has Shanghai Hongquan Film and Television Culture Co., Ltd. remaining, where her mother is the legal representative, and Song Zuer serves as a supervisor and holds a 10% stake.
