On April 30th at 17:45, Qingchuan County in Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province was suddenly hit by a short hailstorm, causing damage to some farmland and economic crops.
A viral video showed that the hail was dense, turning the roads into “ice rivers” in an instant, with a vast expanse of white. Due to the sudden hailstorm, some vendors didn’t have time to pack up their stalls. The video footage also captured a motorcyclist being blocked by the “ice rivers” at an intersection, unable to cross the road.
According to the Sichuan Observer News, Qingchuan County in Guangyuan City was hit by a sudden hailstorm due to severe convective weather. The hailstorm lasted for about 10 minutes, mainly concentrated in the towns of Qiaozhuang and Dayuan Hui Township in Qingchuan County.
As a result, some tiled houses, awnings, and other building roofs in the county were damaged. Some farmland and economic crops were affected, with the specific area of damage and types of crops still being verified by the agricultural department. There have been no reports of casualties.
At 5:37 p.m. that day, the Qingchuan County Meteorological Observatory issued an orange hail warning: Qiaozhuang Town, Qimazhen, Houxihui Township, Shazhou Town, Muyu Town, and other townships in Qingchuan may experience hail accompanied by thunderstorms within the next 6 hours, with a risk of hail disaster.
However, according to Cover News, as of the evening of the report, the local weather had cleared up, and the hailstorm had ended.
Prior to this, on April 28th at 13:08, an earthquake of around 4.1 magnitude occurred near Qingchuan County in Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province.
