On July 17th, a fire broke out at the Jiuding Department Store Building in Zigong City, Sichuan Province, resulting in the tragic deaths of 6 individuals. As of now, there are still people trapped inside the building.
According to local authorities, the fire started at 18:11 on July 17th in the Jiuding Department Store Building located in the Gaoxin District of Zigong City. It has been reported that 6 people have lost their lives, and rescue teams are currently working tirelessly to search for any remaining individuals.
The building where the fire occurred has a total of 14 floors, with fire points identified on the 1st, 4th, 5th, and 6th floors, causing a three-dimensional combustion situation inside, accompanied by heavy smoke on the scene.
At 21:19, “Sichuan Online” managed to reach a female survivor who was rescued from the building. According to her account, around 6 pm, she suddenly heard rescue noises and witnessed thick smoke billowing from the building. She and her colleagues promptly fled to the rooftop for safety. The survivor mentioned that there were about twenty-plus individuals rescued along with her at that time.
As of 20:20, there are still individuals trapped inside the Jiuding Department Store Building, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
The authorities continue their efforts to bring the situation under control and rescue any remaining individuals within the premises.
