Sichuan Cargo Truck Collision with Wedding Convoy Injures Multiple People, Witnesses Speak Out

On July 8th, a hanging truck crashed into a wedding convoy in Zhaoya Town, Luxian County, Sichuan Province, causing damage to 7 wedding cars and injuring 10 people.

A viral video showed many vehicles scattered on the road near a traffic light intersection, with several vehicles severely deformed, all adorned with red flowers. The offending truck was no exception, with its front severely damaged. Ambulances could be seen on the scene, indicating that some individuals were likely injured.

A local resident commented that the newlyweds were from the same village, and their wedding was delayed for nearly an hour due to the incident.

Another resident analyzed in the video comments section that the road has a speed limit of 70 kilometers per hour, but there are too many traffic lights! Every road, regardless of its size, is equipped with traffic lights (even if there are only two households along the sides). “Just passed a traffic light, speed just picked up to 70 yards, then have to brake again because there’s another traffic light immediately. The frequent braking of trucks is a major cause of brake failure and should be taken seriously.”

According to an eyewitness who spoke to Jiemu News, the accident occurred near Shilong Village in the Zhaoya section of G246 highway when a truck crashed into the wedding convoy, damaging multiple accompanying wedding cars.

On the evening of the 8th, Luxian County Public Security Bureau in Luzhou, Sichuan issued a report stating that at around 11:00 on July 8th, a “traffic accident” occurred in Yanyan Village, Zhaoya Town, Luxian County (small place name: Sihetou). Upon preliminary investigation, it was found that Zhang Mou (male, 45 years old) was driving a heavy-duty semi-trailer with license plate number Chuan E6***4 when he rear-ended the vehicles waiting for traffic lights at the 265KM+300M mark on G246 highway, causing “damage to 7 vehicles and injury to 10 people,” with “6 people hospitalized for observation and treatment”.
