Siblings from Chengdu Missing: Brother’s Body Found, Sister’s Whereabouts Unknown

Last month in Sichuan, Chengdu, a 7-year-old girl and her 3-year-old brother went missing. According to relatives on August 5th, the body of the younger brother has been found, while the search for the sister is still ongoing.

On July 17th, a missing person notice for the siblings from Chengdu, Sichuan, caught attention online. The notice indicated that the siblings went missing around 10 am on the same day near Haiyun Pi River Bay Agro-tourism in Siyi Village, Xindu District, Chengdu. The girl is named Yanran Qing, 7 years old, and the boy is named Hu Jian Qing, 3 years old.

According to a previous report by the “Xiaoxiang Morning Post,” the cousin of the siblings’ mother, Mr. Wu, mentioned that search and rescue personnel have carefully searched within a radius of two to three kilometers from the location where the siblings went missing, including all possible places where children might go or where people could hide, but no clues were found.

Mr. Wu mentioned that on the day of the incident, the grandfather was at home looking after the siblings. The siblings rode a bicycle together outside, and later the girl returned home alone with the bike, telling the grandfather that her brother was waiting for her outside and they would be back home after playing for an hour. After seeing the girl off, the grandfather walked in the opposite direction towards the river, assuming the brother was on the other side of the hill. About 20 minutes later, when the grandfather went out to look for them, both siblings were nowhere to be found, prompting the family to report to the police on the same day.

“We have three roads leading out from here, and we have checked the surveillance cameras along all three roads. If they had taken the main road, we would have seen them, so we have almost ruled out the possibility of them getting lost on their own,” Mr. Wu stated. The road is “along the river,” and the family speculates that the two children “either fell into the river or were abducted by someone.”

As of August 5th, the two children have been missing for 19 days. On August 3rd, Mr. Wu reported that they found a body downstream 50 kilometers away from the river, suspected to be that of the younger brother. The identity was confirmed through DNA testing. However, there is still no news about the sister, and the family is actively searching for her.

According to the missing person notice released by Mr. Wu, the girl is slender, with short hair, wearing a white dress with colorful small flowers when she went missing. The family hopes that if anyone has any information, they will promptly contact the children’s family as listed in the notice.
