Showdown with Raskin: Hohman gets support from 2 primary election losers

As the November election approaches, the race for the Los Angeles County District Attorney is heating up, with George Gascón and federal prosecutor Nathan Hochman competing for the position. On Thursday (30th), both primary candidates appeared publicly in support of Hochman.

With less than half a year left until the November 5th election, the battle for the Los Angeles County District Attorney is becoming increasingly intense. Hochman, challenging the incumbent Gascón, is confident in his chances of winning.

Hochman said, “His (Gascón’s) policies are supportive of crime, his policies have already prejudged (cases), he will not prosecute certain crimes and certain criminals, he ignores what the law requires him to do. We can turn things around. As a district attorney, I can turn things around.”

In the March primaries, Gascón and Hochman were only 10% apart in votes, neither gaining a majority.

Currently, several incumbent officials including Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Hatami, as well as candidates who did not advance in the primaries, have openly endorsed Hochman.

Former candidate for Los Angeles County District Attorney, Craig Mitchell, stated: “As Hochman said, the work of the district attorney’s office is so important. It must transcend politics. I absolutely believe Hochman will follow through with his promises.”

Another former candidate, David Milton, also stated: “He (Hochman) will never compromise or put the rights of criminals above the rights of victims. I hope and believe he will restore the district attorney’s office to the right path.”

Hochman, who has been involved in the criminal justice field for 34 years, is running as an independent candidate, hoping to demonstrate his dedication to public safety over politics.
