Shenzhen’s Top Peak Stone is Fake, Netizens: What else is Real?

Recently, a huge rock inscribed with the words “Pengcheng First Peak” on the top of Wutong Mountain in Shenzhen was “discovered” to be made of bricks inside, sparking uproar among netizens. Netizens questioned, how many such fakes are there in the country?

Wutong Mountain is a famous tourist attraction in Shenzhen, with its main peak reaching an altitude of 943.7 meters, making it the highest peak in Shenzhen and earning it the reputation of “Pengcheng First Peak.” It attracts a large number of tourists annually, with the huge rock at the summit serving as a landmark of Shenzhen. It is a popular spot for tourists to visit and take photos, with the words “Pengcheng First Peak” inscribed on the rock. However, to the surprise of many, this rock turned out to be a fake.

According to a post made by a netizen on social media on October 29, the “Pengcheng First Peak” rock on Wutong Mountain in Shenzhen was recently renovated, revealing that the large rock at the mountaintop is actually an artificial rock. “How many years of emotions have you deceived me?”

In response to this, the management of Wutong Mountain Scenic Area stated to a reporter from Shenzhen News Network that the giant rock is indeed an artificial rock.

However, due to the lack of clear identification on-site, visitors over the years had always assumed it to be a natural giant rock.

After the news of the “fake rock” spread, many netizens expressed shock: “Deceived.” “This is also fake!” “I’ve been there once and wanted to go again, but now I’m not interested.” “I really didn’t expect it to be artificial. After so many years in Shenzhen, I thought it must be a real rock.” “Now that I think about it, when I climbed to the top in 2019, there didn’t seem to be a rock there, just pits and holes everywhere.”

Some netizens raised doubts: “How many of these fake rocks are there in Shenzhen? How many are there in the entire country? I really want to break open the Qianhai rock (Note: a piece of yellow wax rock inscribed with the words ‘Qianhai’ in Nanshan District, Shenzhen) and take a look.” “I can’t take it anymore. What else is real? Tell me, what is real?”
