Recently, a large number of petitioners from Shanghai once again traveled to Beijing, with 39 individuals being deported on May 24th. In the early hours of May 25th, over fifty police officers had gathered at the Shanghai Railway New Passenger Station, awaiting to escort these petitioners to the Shanghai Relief Station.
Among those deported petitioners was Gu Guoping, a retired professor from Shanghai University and a human rights activist, who arrived in Beijing on May 22nd. On May 23rd, Gu Guoping was intercepted by police in Dongjiaomin Lane in Beijing for identity check and was then taken to the Dongjiaomin Lane Police Station. On that day, many Shanghai petitioners were intercepted by the police at the police station. At the same time, many Shanghai petitioners were detained by Beijing police at the Furight Street Police Station. They were all handed over by the police to the Beijing Office and deported back to Shanghai.
Gu Guoping told a reporter from Epoch Times, “There were 39 of us petitioners who were deported back. Upon our return to Shanghai, more than 50 police officers escorted us to the Shanghai Relief Station at No. 500 Fucun Road. This approach is meant to intimidate us, to make us feel scared, and to serve this purpose.”
Inside the Shanghai Relief Station at No. 500 Fucun Road, there are interference devices installed blocking cellphone signals, preventing the petitioners from receiving and sending information normally, thus hindering them from sending out real-time information.
Currently, Gu Guoping has returned home. He said, “The government spends a large amount of taxpayers’ money to maintain their so-called stability, treating us petitioners and human rights activists as terrorists for deportation. So, they can use taxpayers’ money without any constraints or oversight. Is this the norm for what a government should do?”
“They use a large amount of taxpayers’ money to maintain the illegal system of the Chinese Communist Party, viewing us petitioners and rights defenders as terrorists to carry out deportations, all for the sake of their vested interest group to oppress and exploit us.”
“So, the Chinese Communist Party is an evil regime that is illegal, unauthorized by public opinion, operates without supervision, and is not subject to any legal constraints!”
The group of deported petitioners includes known individuals such as Gu Guoping, Gao Fuxing, Lu Longzhen, Wu Yufen, Yan Xiulan, Wu Jinfang, Chen Guanghua, and Zhu Peifang, totaling 39 people.
Wu Yufen, a petitioner from Shanghai, who has been unable to resolve issues related to the demolition of her house and went to Beijing to file a complaint, was also on the list of those deported. Upon returning to Shanghai, after being taken out by the authorities at the relief station in Changning District, she was sent to a black prison in Chongming District for detention.
In addition, Chen Meihua, a petitioner from Jing’an District, went to the Chongming District Chengqiao Police Station on May 21st to request the filing of a case and obtain a receipt regarding her abduction and imprisonment in a black prison last year.
Chen Meihua’s brother Chen Jindi said, “From the last communication I had with my sister Chen Meihua before losing contact, I learned that Policeman Shi Er and two street workers were present at the scene. If anything happens to her, the family will seek accountability from the responsible parties!”
