Recently, a super strong freak wind suddenly hit Tai’an, Shandong Province. Tin billboards were torn apart, and the metal frames of the billboards were blown towards all directions in the west, which was very frightening. Some internet users described it as a scene of “a thousand arrows fired at once.”
A video circulating online showed that the incident occurred around 4 p.m. on the 28th. In the video, an outdoor building was suddenly destroyed by a powerful freak wind, with metal frames being lifted into the air and then crashing in all directions. Houses were hit with loud bangs, and a woman filming inside the house was scared and kept exclaiming, “Oh my goodness.” After the strong wind passed, the scene was a mess. Some netizens described the scene at that time as “a thousand arrows fired at once” and “a thousand swords returning to their origins.”
According to Jimo News, the incident took place near the Jiaoyun Automobile Park in Tai’an on the 29th. A staff member at a second-hand car dealership in the park said that the strong wind lasted for about 10 minutes, followed by rain. The billboards were damaged by the wind, and several cars in the nearby parking lot were damaged to varying degrees, but fortunately, no one was injured.
At 11:00 on June 28th, the Tai’an Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow thunderstorm warning signal for the city: from noon to night, most of the townships and streets in Tai’an city would experience thunderstorms, potentially leading to thunderstorm disasters, with localized gusts of 7 to 9 on the Beaufort scale and short-term heavy rainfall.
According to netizens in Shandong, “This year, the wind is especially frequent and strong.” “I was passing through Tai’an on the highway, and the rain was pouring down like buckets.”
Some netizens also reminded that “the hidden dangers of roof and fence color steel tiles should not be overlooked.”
