Recently, a video of the unfinished building owner in Zaozhuang, Shandong has attracted high attention from netizens. Under public pressure, the local government finally intervened, allowing the stalled construction site to resume.
The residential project Zhongyuan Royal Garden in Zaozhuang, Shandong, has become an unfinished building and a nightmare for nearly a thousand homeowners. The project has been overdue for delivery for 3 years, leaving over 900 homeowners without their properties while still having to make mortgage payments.
Public records show that as of May 25th this year, the Zhongyuan Royal Garden project is still completely stalled. Despite the main structure being completed, key supporting facilities such as elevator cables and fire doors and windows are nowhere to be seen.
One of the unfinished building owners, a woman from Zaozhuang, Shandong, known by the nickname “Dongqi and Wusong”, along with her husband, purchased a property here three years ago, intending it to be their marital home. Now, their child is three years old, and they should have moved into their new home, but the house that embodies their dreams remains nothing more than a barren construction site.
She started filming videos to fight for her rights, tearfully recounting her own experiences, describing the immense pressure she has endured for the past three years for the house, and demanding government intervention to urge the real estate developer to resume construction and deliver the houses as soon as possible.
She expressed that she has to repay the mortgage on time every month, but there are no signs of the house being delivered, and the burden of life is making it hard for her to breathe. However, these videos seemed to have little impact, almost ignored by everyone.
Recently, she continued to film rights protection videos wearing a tight white bodysuit, which immediately attracted a lot of attention, with people sympathizing with the couple who bought the unfinished house.
Following that, she took the advice of netizens and started frequently changing into different styles of tight clothing in the videos, beginning each video with: “Hello, everyone, I am an owner of Zhongyuan Royal Garden. Our house has been unfinished for three years, please urge the developer to deliver the houses as soon as possible.”
In just over ten days, her number of followers soared to tens of thousands. With the surge in traffic, criticisms also emerged. Some questioned her motives, suggesting that she was accumulating followers to profit from live streaming sales and other activities.
On June 6th, “Dongqi and Wusong” and her husband addressed these criticisms. They clearly stated that they would never venture into the realm of live streaming sales.
The female owner said, “We are not highly educated and truly cannot do live streaming sales. Besides, these fans sincerely support our fight for rights, and we must live up to that trust.”
This storm sparked by traffic brought a turning point for the nearly thousand homeowners of Zhongyuan Royal Garden. With the increase in social pressure, the local government finally intervened, stating that they would make every effort to coordinate relevant units to solve the problem. Currently, more than ten workers have entered the construction site, promising to complete the handover within six months.
“Dongqi and Wusong” and her husband stated in the video that they had been “pleasantly” summoned and assured that the houses would be delivered on time, so they would no longer film rights protection videos.
The story of “Dongqi and Wusong” has sparked heated discussions among netizens. The internet influencer “Xiao Xu Talks Gossip” said that the female owner’s fight for rights is filled with hardships and helplessness. When civilized rights protection and normal complaints fail to receive effective responses, she had to find another way to make her voice heard. Her story is not just a personal journey of fighting for rights but also reflects the struggles and helplessness many ordinary people face in rights protection dilemmas.
“Xiao Xu Talks Gossip” said, “The reflections sparked by this event are far from over. We can’t help but ask, why, when conventional channels are open, do problems remain unresolved for a long time? Why must progress be driven through such a controversial method?”
