Shandong Recycling Company: Multiple Individuals Fall into Cleaning Pool, 5 Dead and 2 in Critical Condition

On May 30th, at a scrap recycling company in Yuncheng County, Shandong Province, several people fell into a cleaning tank, resulting in the tragic death of 5 individuals and leaving 2 others in critical condition.

According to the official report from the Yuncheng County Emergency Management Bureau in Shandong, around 12:30 on May 30th, an employee of the scrap recycling company in Yuncheng County fell into the tank while working on the edge of the waste plastic cleaning tank. Subsequently, six coworkers who attempted to rescue him also fell into the tank one after another.

The report stated that the accident has already claimed the lives of 5 individuals, with 2 others in critical condition.

The incident has sparked discussions online, with netizens expressing their concerns and astonishment. Comments such as “Shandong, once again Shandong,” “What is happening in Shandong these days? It’s truly speechless,” and questions like “Is the cleaning tank very deep?” and “Are there strong chemicals in the waste cleaning tank?” reflect the public’s shock and worry.

Some shared their own experiences with similar incidents, highlighting the risks involved in such industrial environments. Responses like “Similar incidents have occurred in the factory I used to work in,” and personal anecdotes about handling corrosive substances in work environments were also shared, emphasizing the importance of proper training and safety measures.

This is yet another major accident that has occurred in Shandong Province recently, as just three days prior (on May 27th), a major explosion took place at a chemical plant in Gaomi City.

Official reports stated that the explosion at the Gaomi chemical plant in Shandong resulted in 5 deaths, 6 missing persons, and 19 individuals sustaining light injuries. However, insider sources revealed to the media that the actual number of casualties should be higher than officially reported. Someone disclosed, “The explosion was severe this time. There should be many more casualties, with around ninety percent of those injured being in critical condition, and most of the survivors also severely injured.”

The series of tragic incidents in Shandong Province raises concerns about industrial safety and the need for stricter regulations and enforcement to prevent such accidents in the future.
