In recent days, there have been rumors circulating that Lin Xiangyang, the commander of the Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), has been taken away for investigation. Additionally, CCP Central Military Commission member Liu Zhenli and Deputy Director of the Air Force Political Department of the Central Theater Command Yao Danjiang are also rumored to have been arrested. This latest round of rumors following the news about Miao Hua, the Director of the Political Work Department of the CCP Central Military Commission, has once again sparked public attention.
Political analysts believe that the current situation is murky and it cannot be ruled out that factions may be intentionally spreading rumors to sow chaos. Former Colonel Yao Cheng of the CCP Navy Headquarters revealed to Dajiyuan that the CCP Central Military Commission is currently paralyzed, and First Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission Zhang Youxia is working on purging Xi Jinping’s loyal forces within the military.
Social media platform X recently reported that Lin Xiangyang, the commander of the Eastern Theater Command of the CCP, has been arrested. Speculation is rife that following the news of Miao Hua’s arrest, both Lin Xiangyang and Miao Hua, who have served in the Fujian garrison and were promoted by Xi Jinping, might face consequences. There are also rumors circulating that Xi Jinping is facing the dilemma of becoming a “lone commander” within the military.
Public information shows that Lin Xiangyang, born in October 1964 in Fuqing, Fujian, previously served as Deputy Commander of the 31st Group Army and Commander of the 47th Group Army in the CCP’s military.
After the military reform in 2017, Lin Xiangyang made appearances as the Commander of the 82nd Group Army in the Central Theater Command in July 2017. In 2019, he was transferred to become the Commander of the 72nd Group Army. In 2020, Lin Xiangyang appeared as the Commander of the Eastern Theater Command of the Army in official CCP media reports. On September 6, 2021, Lin Xiangyang was promoted to the rank of General and made his first public appearance as the Commander of the Central Theater Command.
In early 2022, Lin Xiangyang left his position, and on September 30 of the same year, he reappeared for the first time as the Commander of the Eastern Theater Command of the CCP. Prior to Lin Xiangyang, the Commander of the Eastern Theater Command was currently serving Vice Chairman of the CCP Central Military Commission He Weidong.
According to online rumors, Xi Jinping promoted Lin Xiangyang by forcing Air Force General Yi Xiaoguang to retire early, allowing Lin to take over as the Commander of the Central Theater Command. Before the 20th National Congress of the CCP, Xi Jinping reassigned Lin Xiangyang to the Eastern Theater Command to lead the operation to take Taiwan, assigning him the role of overall commander. Lin Xiangyang’s rapid promotion in the military is remarkable; he was promoted to Major General in 2020 and to General a year later, ascending from Brigadier General to General in just two years, a highly unusual promotion within the military, demonstrating Xi Jinping’s high esteem and trust in him.
The rumors also suggest that among those taken away for investigation are CCP Central Military Commission member Liu Zhenli and Deputy Director of the Air Force Political Department of the Central Theater Command Yao Danjiang. Earlier reports had already indicated that Director of the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission Miao …
