In a recent revelation, a scientist from Spain shared his profound near-death experience, describing it as “very real” despite lasting only 7 seconds. This brief encounter led him to witness extraordinary phenomena in a different realm and make decisions crucial to life and death. He expressed that this experience fundamentally altered his understanding of consciousness and the meaning of life.
According to a report by the British newspaper “Daily Mirror,” Álex Gómez Marín, a Spanish neuroscientist, made these remarks during an interview on the country’s radio program “La Rosa de los Vientos.”
Marín recounted that several years ago, he was hospitalized for a severe internal bleeding incident, which ultimately led to this near-death experience that transpired within a mere 7 seconds.
He described entering a life-threatening crisis where his body went into a near-death state with his heart ceasing to beat for 7 seconds. During this time, he encountered a sensation beyond scientific explanation.
Reflecting on the experience, Marín recalled being enveloped in an otherworldly golden light. He said, “I was in a tunnel, actually, it was a well. In other words, I was looking up.”
He saw three figures with their backs to the light, waiting. Marín asserted his certainty about their identities without any doubt. Describing the moment, he said, “The light was yellow and very intense. At that moment, I understood… this is very important – not what I think or believe, but what I know. I was convinced they had accepted me, and if I accepted their help, I would die.”
Marín explained that he felt a spiritual connection with these three mysterious beings. “I didn’t speak with them. I could feel and understand what they were saying and my emotions.”
When these entities offered him the choice to return to his physical body or leave this world, Marín disclosed his decision: “I thanked them and told them it was not the right time. I decided to go back, and at that moment, I felt very calm.”
He clarified, “I wasn’t happy, but I was very serene in that well. I knew what would happen next. I just thanked them and returned to life. That was my near-death experience.”
Marín holds a Ph.D. in theoretical physics and a master’s degree in biophysics from the University of Barcelona. He described this peculiar event as “not like a dream or hallucination” but something “more real than reality itself.”
During the crucial moment when the entities helped him out of the well and presented the choice of returning to Earth, Marín thought of his daughter, prompting him to request to come back.
He emphasized that he did not experience fear or pain during this near-death encounter, instead feeling profoundly peaceful and fully comprehending his surroundings. “There was no need for thinking – I just knew. I knew everything was fine.”
Marín highlighted that this experience fundamentally shifted his perspective on consciousness and life’s purpose.
Currently, Marín serves as a researcher at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
