Scared Puppy Locked in Wolf Den in Guangdong Tourist Area

Recently, a visitor discovered a small dog locked inside a wolf pen at a zoo in Shaoguan, shaking in fear, cowering in a corner, and whimpering, leading to allegations of animal abuse at the zoo.

On April 6, a netizen from Guangdong posted a video claiming that on April 5, when their group visited the Shaoguan Ruyuan Yunmen Mountain Scenic Area, they found a small dog mixed with a group of wolves in the zoo within the area. The dog was trembling and whimpering continuously, too scared to move, huddling in a corner, raising concerns about animal mistreatment.

In the video, two visitors expressed, “It’s scared, just look into its eyes.” “It doesn’t dare to move at all.”

The video sparked attention online.

Many netizens sympathized with the small dog and voiced, “This is too much, how could they do this?” “Are they planning to use it as food?” “Shouldn’t the zoo staff have the most basic compassion, or else how can they qualify to work at the zoo?” “What’s the point of keeping such staff who do not have any empathy?” “The environment is too harsh, this kind of zoo should be shut down immediately.” “People from all over the country are monitoring you, Shaoguan Yunmen Mountain in Guangdong, hoping the dog is safe and healthy.”

On April 7, Yangzi Evening News contacted the Yunmen Mountain Tourist Resort, and a staff member responded that after investigation, it was found that the dog was a guard dog of the zoo management personnel. A staff member violated the rules by putting the dog into the wolf pen, and the dog was unharmed and has been released.

According to the notice issued by the scenic area on that day, the staff member involved has resigned. The zoo within the area will be closed for rectification from April 7 to April 14, and only reopen after passing the rectification process.
