Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves discuss the desire to collaborate again in their lifetime.

59-year-old Hollywood superstar Keanu Reeves and his same-age counterpart Sandra Bullock have been celebrating the almost 30th anniversary of their first collaboration in “Speed”. Recently, they publicly expressed their hope to work together in another movie before their lifetime ends.

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock not only starred together in “Speed” (1994) but also in the romantic drama “The Lake House” (2006). During an interview on the “50 MPH” radio show on the 6th, Sandra Bullock mentioned that portraying “Annie Porter” in “Speed” was one of the best times of her life.

Recalling her experience, Sandra said, “Being able to play my ideal Annie was a wonderful time. I mean, without wanting anything, I was just grateful and happy to play this role with the male lead. I admired Keanu a lot at that time, and I still do now.”

At the end of 2022, Sandra revealed on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that she had a crush on Keanu during the filming of “Speed”. A few months later, Ellen confirmed that they indeed missed a romantic opportunity, as Keanu also shared similar feelings about Sandra when asked on the same show. Keanu smilingly said, “She obviously didn’t know I liked her.”

Though foreign media announced last month that Keanu is about to marry his artist girlfriend of five years, Alexandra Grant, some fans felt a bit regretful about his and Sandra’s relationship. However, Keanu and Sandra mentioned that they would work together once again in a film to satisfy the fans’ expectations.

When discussing the possibility of starring in “Speed 3” together, Sandra Bullock remarked, “Before I leave this Earth, I really feel that Keanu and I need to do something together in front of the camera.” She added that there’s no fixed formula on how to do it, and it could be an unexpected scenario like sitting in wheelchairs or riding speeder bikes at Disneyland.

Even though Keanu did not choose to continue the “Speed” series with Sandra in “Speed 2: Cruise Control” (1997), he now tells Sandra, “It does feel like there’s an alarm sounding, as if some things are still incomplete. I hope we can work together again before we close our eyes.”

The story of “Speed” revolves around Los Angeles police officer Jack (played by Keanu) thwarting the attempt of retired bomb squad member Howard to hijack a bus with hostages, thus angering him. In retaliation, Howard plants a bomb on the bus, set to explode if the speed drops below 50 miles per hour. Passenger Annie (played by Sandra) courageously drives the bus, helping Jack save everyone on board before the bomb detonates.

According to Box Office Mojo, “Speed” was the fourth highest-grossing film worldwide in 1994, with a global box office revenue of $350 million. It holds a high 97% support from critics on the review site Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising it as an outstanding popcorn thriller film, with a tight, thrilling, and energetic plot, as well as excellent performances by Keanu Reeves, Dennis Hopper, and Sandra Bullock.
