Sammi Cheng reappeared at a hotel for a meeting after a two-year hiatus, sparking rumors of a comeback.

Hong Kong singer Joyce Cheng, who has been on hiatus for nearly two years, recently made a public appearance at a hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. This sudden appearance follows her clearing out all images on her Instagram account, leading to speculation that she may be planning a comeback with the help of well-known manager Chen Shu Fen’s son, Chen Jiahao, and their team.

According to “Hong Kong 01,” a netizen spotted Joyce Cheng at The Peninsula Hotel. On that day, she showcased a professional look in a slim-fitting black outfit paired with golden curly hair and exquisite makeup, looking in good spirits.

Photos revealed Joyce Cheng and Chen Jiahao, along with their team, having a meeting at the hotel lobby lounge, engaging in discussions with occasional smiles and interactions. After the meeting concluded, Joyce Cheng was seen conversing with the group while walking away, possibly discussing plans for her comeback.

At 37 years old, Joyce Cheng, the daughter of actors Adam Cheng and Lydia Shum, made her debut as a singer in 2011. In 2022, she achieved great success as a female Hong Kong singer, but since her concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum in March 2023, Joyce Cheng has been absent from public events and rarely updated her social media platforms.

During her unexpected two-year absence, Joyce Cheng only made guest appearances in music videos for friends and provided voice acting for the animated movie “Disney’s Wish,” while her career came to a halt. Her manager, Lin Shanshan, once stated, “Joyce is indeed unwell and undergoing treatment. Please give her time and respect her privacy.” This led to various speculations, including rumors of Joyce Cheng secretly giving birth in Canada, which Lin Shanshan dismissed as baseless.

Last month, fans and media noticed that Joyce Cheng’s personal Instagram account was wiped clean of all content. Coupled with previous rumors of her battling depression and two years of inactivity, fans grew increasingly worried about Joyce Cheng’s well-being. Some speculate that the clearing of her Instagram may be related to her upcoming work, suggesting that now that her contract with the management company “Emperor Entertainment Group” has ended, Joyce Cheng may be preparing for a fresh start.

Hong Kong media disclosed that Chen Shu Fen was a close friend of Lydia Shum before her passing and has maintained contact with Joyce Cheng over the years. Fans are hopeful that Joyce Cheng, who has overcome the label of being a second-generation celebrity, will prioritize her health and deliver new works.
