Russia’s military launched 367 drones and missiles towards cities including the capital city of Kyiv in Ukraine on Sunday night, making it the largest airstrike in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war so far. The attack resulted in at least 12 deaths and dozens of injuries. In the Kyiv area alone, 4 people were killed and 16 others were injured, including 3 children.
On the night of the 25th, Russia launched a total of 298 drones and 69 missiles. In terms of the number of weapons fired, this was the largest-scale attack during the war, although other attacks have caused more casualties.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, they managed to shoot down 45 cruise missiles and 266 drones. Most regions in Ukraine were affected, with 22 locations hit. Ukrainian President Zelensky stated that rescue workers are conducting rescue operations in over thirty cities and villages.
Despite continuous calls from the international community, Russia continues to intensify its airstrikes with no signs of halting the offensive. Starting from Friday, both Russia and Ukraine exchanged one thousand prisoners and civilians each for three consecutive days. However, amidst the prisoner exchange, Russia launched intense airstrikes on Ukraine on Saturday and Sunday, especially targeting the Kyiv region.
Zelensky emphasized, “While the world may be on vacation, the war continues, whether it’s the weekend or a workday.” He also urged the West not to remain silent, stating, “This cannot be ignored. The silence of the United States and other countries around the world will only embolden Putin.”
