Rural Bus Stops Lack Electricity, Kaohsiung City Government to Install 40 More Solar-Powered E-paper Signs

The Kaohsiung City Transportation Bureau has recently implemented solar-powered electronic paper smart bus stops in response to the issue of bus stops without electricity for application. These smart bus stops are energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and equipped with intelligent features. Currently, there are 77 of these smart bus stops installed throughout the city. This year, the bureau has secured an additional subsidy of NT$4.8 million from the central government to establish 40 more of these smart bus stops in areas such as Taoyuan District, Shanlin District, and Dashu District. This initiative aims to provide passengers with real-time bus arrival information and enhance the quality of waiting services.

The smart bus stops are designed to address the challenge of traditional bus stops that lack electricity supply for digital information displays. By utilizing solar energy and electronic paper technology, these new smart bus stops not only reduce energy consumption but also promote green energy practices. With the installation of more smart bus stops in key districts of Kaohsiung, passengers will benefit from improved access to timely bus arrival information, enhancing their overall waiting experience.

The Kaohsiung City Transportation Bureau’s effort to introduce solar-powered electronic paper smart bus stops underscores its commitment to enhancing public transportation services while embracing sustainable and innovative technologies. With the expansion of these smart bus stops in various districts of the city, commuters can expect greater convenience and efficiency in accessing essential bus arrival information. This initiative not only contributes to a more environmentally friendly public transportation system but also elevates the overall passenger experience in Kaohsiung.
