In the early hours of August 6th, around 4:40 AM, a breach occurred along the right bank of the Wang River in Fanjia Village, Tieling County, Liaoning Province, with the breach width measuring approximately 18 meters.
According to a report by the relevant departments in Tieling City, Liaoning Province, on August 6th, since the start of the main flood season, due to continuous heavy rainfall, the total precipitation has reached 2.4 times the annual average, resulting in a continuous rise in water levels in the Wang River, a tributary of the Liao River. Around 4:40 AM on the 6th, a breach appeared along the right bank of the Wang River in Fanjia Village, Tieling County, with a width of about 18 meters.
Due to the common practice of the Chinese Communist Party to cover up disaster situations, the number of casualties and injuries is currently unknown.
However, Tieling is an important grain-producing region in the north. Local residents have shared videos online expressing concerns such as “the flood in Shuangshuzi Village, Tieling County is even wider than the Liao River” and “houses in Tieling are all flooded.” Additionally, in Changtu County, Tieling City, it was reported that “Simaicheng is done for.” Moreover, the “Paozi Reservoir along the Wang River, a tributary of the Liao River, is still releasing water.”
Some netizens pointed out that “flooding caused by discharge of water has led to submerged crops,” and “many landlords in Tieling have had hundreds of mu of land submerged.” They also mentioned that “the primary grain-producing county, Changtu County, is ruined.”
Netizens raised questions like “how will the flooded agricultural land be compensated?” and “my family’s land of about thirty to forty mu has been flooded, and the water from neighboring villages has reached our land. What will happen next?” They also expressed concerns about whether there will be assistance, disaster relief efforts, donations, and so on after the reports were published.
Furthermore, some netizens questioned the reasons behind the breaches happening across the country, linking it to issues of construction quality or overexploitation of resources.
Moreover, a netizen from Jilin mentioned, “there is a 40-meter gap in the dam near my village, and the entire village’s land is flooded! The water department did not release water in advance, causing the entire village to be flooded. Now that the water has receded, there has been no explanation. The farmland and corn in rural areas have all been ruined!”
