Revitalizing the Old City Area: Warehouse Murals Exhibition at Xinmin Street in Zhong City

Near the Taichung Train Station in Taiwan, the “Xinmin Street Warehouse Group” is currently undergoing planning, design, and restoration works. The city government intends to develop it into a incubation base for the popular music industry in Taichung. In order to prevent people from trespassing into the construction site, the city government will collaborate with the “Escape Plan Graffiti Art Team” to create graffiti artworks on the fences around the site, thus creating urban public art. This initiative aims to inject vitality and vigor into the old city area by blending the old with the new.

The transformation of the “Xinmin Street Warehouse Group” into a hub for Taichung’s popular music industry is an effort by the city government to rejuvenate the urban landscape and promote cultural and creative industries. By integrating artistic elements into the urban space, the project seeks to not only protect the construction site but also enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area. The collaboration with the “Escape Plan Graffiti Art Team” highlights the city’s commitment to supporting local artists and fostering a vibrant cultural scene.

Through this collaboration, the city government and the graffiti art team aim to create a harmonious fusion of modern art and urban development, breathing new life into the old city district. The incorporation of graffiti artworks on the fences surrounding the construction site serves as a creative solution to both beautify the area and prevent unauthorized access. By blending contemporary street art with historical architecture, the project aims to revitalize the urban environment and engage the community in cultural expressions.
