Report with Real Names: Jiangsu Female Ph.D. Accuses Mentor Inside System of Sexual Harassment.

Recently, there have been a series of scandals involving infidelity that have been continuously exposed online. The individuals reported not only engaged in extramarital affairs, but many of them hold important positions within the Chinese Communist Party system, with significant social influence.

On the evening of May 12, a female doctoral student named Li, who is pursuing her PhD at Hohai University, publicly reported her doctoral supervisor, Mr. Zhou, with a well-crafted PowerPoint presentation alleging sexual harassment by Mr. Zhou and mentioning his business dealings with her husband.

Li’s report letter was sent to Hohai University’s disciplinary committee inbox on May 6 for processing.

According to a report by Modern Express, on May 12, when contacted about the matter, the staff at Hohai University’s disciplinary committee office confirmed that they had received the report letter on May 6. The university has set up an investigative team, and the matter is currently under further investigation and verification.

Li stated that she is a doctoral student from the Business School of Hohai University, class of 2019, and her supervisor is Professor Zhou from the Business School of Hohai University. She accused Mr. Zhou of holding shares in her husband’s company and sharing profits, as well as verbally harassing her on multiple occasions.

Li revealed that in the six years of her Ph.D. studies, Mr. Zhou did not provide her with any effective academic guidance. During the mid-term defense of her dissertation, he questioned a paper she had published in a certain academic journal and demanded that she pay for the defense fees herself.

Furthermore, Li accused Mr. Zhou of sexual harassment. In October 2022, Mr. Zhou called her to a small meeting room in the college to discuss academic matters, but instead, he started discussing intimate matters between a husband and wife and sexual topics, which she found disturbing. She was then falsely accused by him of having issues with her work style, immaturity, and emotional control.

Li disclosed that although she was the only one at home, Mr. Zhou repeatedly suggested coming to her place, but she rejected his advances.

The chat records exposed by Li between her and Mr. Zhou showed that on October 7, 2021, Mr. Zhou messaged her asking if she had time to have dinner together that evening, and mentioned that he would be going to Jiangbei the next day and wanted to see her en route, to which Li did not agree.

According to insiders, Li had intermittently reported the matter both to the school and online over a month ago.

Through research, netizens discovered that Li’s real name is Li Moyuan and that she represented the school in the 6th China International “Internet+” University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition held in Guangzhou in 2021, where she won a silver award.

As for the accused, Mr. Zhou’s real name is Zhou Mobei, born in 1974, currently 51 years old. Zhou Mobei also holds positions as the director of the Water Resources Economics Research Institute of the Ministry of Water Resources and the chief expert of the National Social Science Fund Project.
