Renowned Former CCTV Commentator Tian Zongqi Passes Away at the Age of 41

On the evening of May 22, the obituary issued by the mourning group of Tian Zongqi, a former well-known sports commentator of CCTV, attracted attention.

The obituary indicated that Tian Zongqi tragically passed away on May 9 in Bangkok, Thailand, at the age of 41. Over the past two weeks, the mourning group has discreetly assisted Tian Zongqi’s parents in handling the funeral arrangements according to their wishes.

According to reports from Thai media, Tian Zongqi fell to his death. At the time of the incident, he was staying alone at a hotel and fell from the 6th floor of the apartment.

Tian Zongqi was born on September 22, 1982, and graduated from the School of Journalism and Communication of Wuhan University. In 2005, he joined CCTV of the Communist Party of China. He excelled in commentating on sports such as volleyball, snooker, diving, tennis, curling, and extreme sports, before transitioning to the film industry in 2016.

Tian Zongqi maintained friendships with prominent figures in Chinese women’s volleyball such as Zhu Ting and Lang Ping.

Following the public announcement of his passing, some colleagues in the industry and sports figures who had friendships with him expressed their condolences and commemorations on social media.
