On the evening of August 7th, a netizen on a social media video platform revealed that relatives of a village cadre in Tuanzhou Township, Huarong County, Yueyang City, Hunan Province, were seen transporting disaster relief supplies back to their own home by car.
The video captured by the netizen shows several individuals loading boxes next to a vehicle carrying relief supplies. The person filming the video explained that the boxes being moved were disaster relief supplies marked with a red cross. The car belonged to the cadre’s family, not the disaster-affected residents. They even used the back door so blatantly. They just did what they did and transported the relief supplies back home by car.
Using a flashlight, witnesses illuminated the back seat of the car, revealing a blur image of a small car with a license plate that started with “湘F6****”, piled with instant noodles and other items.
According to Benliu News, on the afternoon of August 8th, staff from the government of Tuanzhou Township, Huarong County, Yueyang City, Hunan Province, claimed that it was a misunderstanding caused by the timing and method of transportation, and that the authorities are currently conducting an investigation.
On the afternoon of July 5th, a breach occurred in the levee of the Dongting Lake at Tuanzhou Dyke in Tuanbei Village, Tuanzhou Township, Huarong County, Yueyang City. By 7 p.m., the breach had widened to about 100 meters. As of late evening on the 5th, the breach was approximately 8 meters wide and 150 meters long. By 9 a.m. on July 6th, the breach had widened to 220 meters, with the water level inside and outside the breach only differing by 0.17 meters. By 11 a.m. on July 6th, the water level difference inside and outside the breach was 0.10 meters, with a length of 226 meters.
