Register in Advance to Participate in the 2024 Election Voting

The 2024 U.S. presidential election is entering its sprint stage, with some voters in Virginia, South Dakota, and Minnesota already beginning early voting. For those eligible citizens to participate in this election, they must register in advance to become legal voters.

Last Tuesday (17th) in the U.S. was National Voter Registration Day, a non-partisan civic holiday dedicated to enabling eligible citizens to register to vote.

Each state has its own voter registration laws and deadlines. Depending on the specific circumstances, American citizens can register to become legal voters online, by mail, or in person at the election office.

To become a voter, individuals must be American citizens, at least 18 years old on Election Day, not judged to have a mental disability by the court, and not incarcerated or on parole for a serious crime.

According to California law, all eligible citizens who wish to vote legally must register 15 days before the election day, which this year falls on November 5th for the presidential election.

If citizens miss the registration deadline, they must go through the “Same-Day Voter Registration” process and personally go to the county election office or polling place to receive a ballot.

California citizens who wish to register online need to provide their California driver’s license or ID number, last four digits of their Social Security number, and date of birth.
