Red Envelopes Rain Down from the Sky at Sanya Da Yuecheng in Hainan, Causing Injuries

On the evening of October 4th, there was an apology for the injury of a person during the “Red Envelope Rain” event at Sanya Joy City in Hainan. It is reported that at the time, there were many people at the scene, leading to crowding and causing someone to fall and get injured.

Sanya Joy City issued an “Explanation of the Situation” on its official Weibo on the evening of October 4th. The explanation stated that the mall was holding a third-anniversary celebration from October 1st to 8th, and on the evening of October 3rd, there was an on-site interactive event. However, “due to insufficient anticipation, the number of participants far exceeded expectations, leading to temporary crowding in certain areas, and some customers accidentally fell. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and trouble this may have caused you.”

Ms. Wang, who participated in the on-site activities, revealed to the Guizhou Radio and Television Public Channel’s program “People’s Concern” that at the beginning of the event, the crowd instantly lost control, with the front row falling down triggering a chain reaction. After being pushed down, her left foot was stepped on, resulting in bruising and swelling, and she noted that many of the “red envelopes” on-site were actually pieces of paper.

Public information shows that Sanya Joy City is a mixed-use development located in the central business district of Sanya. The shopping center has a construction area of about 100,000 square meters, covering high-end fashion, dining, and cultural experiences.
